Fluency Phrase Game
|
Activity DescriptionMargarita does excellent when it comes to sight words, but seems to struggle when it comes to short phrases, so I decided to do a phrase game with her. There was one stack in the middle and that was the pile where you would pick from. If you got the sentence correct than you would get to keep it. If you got it wrong than it would go in the wrong pile and no one would get it. If you read it wrong than the other person would help you to read it correctly. At the end whoever has the most strips wins.

ReflectionMargarita LOVED this game! She also did very will with the phrases. She rarely got them wrong. I think that one of the most important piece of this activity was not when she was reading them, but more importantly when I was reading them. She not only had to listen to what I was reading but she also had to read it herself to make sure that I was correct. In the beginning I got them right, but after a few I began getting them wrong, that's when she had to be paying close attention. The majority of the time when I got it wrong she would quickly say no, but when she would say yes that I got it right I would reread it slower and she would realize I made a mistake. She beat me every time we played.
